Secondary School Programs
Year 7 - 12
These years are all about change — identity, friendships, expectations.
Our secondary school workshops are designed to support students through these transitions using engaging, practical content grounded in real psychology.
Emotion Regulation
Drawn from: Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
Middle schoolers feel everything big.
This workshop gives them tools to name, understand, and regulate strong emotions — without shutting them down.
Students will learn to:
✔️ Understand how the brain responds to stress
✔️ Practise calming techniques (movement, breath, grounding)
✔️ Respond instead of react when emotions run high
📌 Why it works: Grounded in neuropsychology and DBT, this session helps students learn how to manage big feelings using their bodies and brains.
Thinking Traps
Drawn from: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Early adolescence is prime time for catastrophising thinking and worst-case scenarios.
This session helps students spot unhelpful thoughts before they spiral and teaches techniques for realistic, flexible thinking.
Students will learn to:
✔️ Identify anxious or distorted thoughts
✔️ Challenge this type of thinking
✔️ Reframe their thoughts
📌 Why it works: CBT tools help students develop metacognition — the ability to think about their thinking — a key skill for both learning and wellbeing.
Mental Movies
Drawn from: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Middle schoolers often get stuck in their heads — worrying about what others think, imagining worst-case scenarios, or replaying awkward moments.
This session helps students spot when their mind has taken over and teaches them how to come back to the present.
Students will learn to:
✔️ Use defusion strategies to unhook from anxious thoughts
✔️ Reframe sticky stories their brain is telling them
✔️ Return to the here-and-now using grounding techniques
📌 Why it works: ACT teaches students that thoughts aren’t facts — and that they can choose how much power to give them. This session builds awareness, self-regulation, and values-based action.
Dealing with Conflict
Drawn from: Nonviolent Communication (NVC) + Assertive Communication
Conflict shows up everywhere — friendships, families, group chats, sports teams and in the classroom.
This session helps students unpack the unhelpful thoughts that drives conflict and teaches them how to navigate conflict assertively.
Students will learn to:
✔️ Identify unhelpful behaviours that increase conflict
✔️Use assertive communication techniques
✔️ Employ effective conflict resolution strategies
📌 Why it works: Based in NVC principles and assertive communication, students learn how acting passively or aggressively leads to more conflict and how acting assertively leads to greater conflict resolution
Inner Critic
Drawn from: Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) + Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Senior students achieve a lot — but are also highly self-critical.
This workshop helps them develop self-awareness and self-compassion, while still striving for their best.
Students will learn to:
✔️ Spot the difference between motivation and self-judgment
✔️ Challenge distorted self-talk and perfectionism
✔️ Practise emotional regulation and self-kindness
📌 Why it works: Students explore the limitations of self-criticsm and experience self-compassion, a more optimal framework for motivation and self-esteem.
Overcoming Procrastination
Procrastination isn’t a time issue — it’s an avoidance strategy.
This workshop helps students understand what they’re avoiding and teaches actionable tools to move through discomfort toward meaningful goals.
Drawn from: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Students will learn to:
✔️ Recognise avoidance patterns
✔️ Develop skills that challenge unhelpful self-talk
✔️ Use practical strategies that helps builds momentum
📌 Why it works: CBT-based strategies that help equip students with practical tools that builds momentum rather than waits for motivation to help overcome procrastination.
