Mental Movies
Drawn from: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Middle schoolers often get stuck in their heads β worrying about what others think, imagining worst-case scenarios, or replaying awkward moments.
This session helps students spot when their mind has taken over and teaches them how to come back to the present.
π Why it works: ACT teaches students that thoughts arenβt facts β and that they can choose how much power to give them. This session builds awareness, self-regulation, and values-based action.
Students will learn to:
βοΈ Use defusion strategies to unhook from anxious thoughts
βοΈ Reframe sticky stories their brain is telling them
βοΈ Return to the here-and-now using grounding techniques
